Online Safety

The digital World is fast overtaking the real one and it is important that we all work together to ensure our children are safe both in the real World and online.

Computing is an integral part of teaching and learning at St Wilfrid's. We use the internet to develop children's research skills and to support their learning across many subject areas. In school, the children can access information online safely due to a filtering system which blocks any inappropriate sites.

As part of our computing curriculum, we assess children’s understanding of how to stay safe online using a platform called ‘e-aware’. This allows us to address any misconceptions or gaps in children’s understanding, and to teach children how to navigate the online world safely.

Along with the teaching we do in school, we have listed some useful sites below which offer guidance to children and parents about online safety and the safe use of e-learning. e-aware, our learning platform, has a very comprehensive YouTube page which offers advice to parents and carers through short videos.
