COLLECTIVE WORSHIP AT ST WILFRID’S
Let Your Light Shine
“You are the light of the world… Let your light shine for others to see.” Matthew 5:14–15
At St Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary School, Collective Worship is at the heart of our school community. Inspired by Jesus’ teachings, our vision, “Let Your Light Shine,” reminds us that every child and adult is unique, valued and loved by God. We create opportunities for everyone to grow in faith, develop spiritually, celebrate their gifts and consider how they can make a positive difference to the world.
Through worship, we explore our Christian values of wisdom, hope, community and dignity, encouraging children to become resilient, compassionate and respectful individuals who let their light shine through their words and actions.
Our approach to spiritual development follows Up, In, Out: looking Up to explore big questions and our relationship with God, looking In to reflect on ourselves and grow in character, and looking Out to show kindness, seek justice and serve others. Our worship is inclusive, invitational and inspiring, welcoming everyone to reflect, question and respond in their own way.
Our Weekly Worship
| Day | Theme | What happens? |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Exploring the Bible and the Christian Calendar | Led by Rev Mark, we explore Bible stories, the teachings of Jesus and important events in the Christian calendar. |
| Tuesday | Reflect and Respond | In class, children reflect on the weekly theme, share their thoughts and consider how to put its message into practice. |
| Wednesday | Window on the World | Led by our Phase Leaders, we explore local, national and global issues, developing empathy and considering how we can make a difference. |
| Thursday | Singing Worship | We come together through Christian songs and hymns to celebrate our faith, reflect on our values and share in the joy of singing. |
| Friday | Celebration Worship | Led by Mrs Speed or Mrs Handley, we celebrate achievements, recognise our values in action and reflect on how we have let our lights shine throughout the week. |
Through Collective Worship, we nurture a community where everyone belongs, every contribution matters and every child is encouraged to flourish.
Together we let our light shine, inspired by our values and committed to serving others.
